Description
Mortar is a classic competitive defuse map set in an industrial post-Soviet storage/warehouse complex. Ex-USSR storage complex with all the surrounding area had been bought by a young company for private uses. The complex was in the process of renovation to modernize it and make it more functional. After closer inspection by the Russian government upon suspicious activity, the company turned out to be a terrorist organization using the complex for weaponry and equipment storage, as well as for organization of terrorist actions. A Spetsnaz team of 5 has been sent out into the complex to clear it out safely. The terrorists may either kill the Spetsnaz team before further backup arrives and allows them to escape, or they can detonate a bomb in one of two key locations; the warehouse or the garage; in order to bring most of the complex down with most equipment, weaponry, plans and other evidence. Key points of the map: The basic layout is quite simple; each site can be entered from CT spawn, T spawn or middle. But there is a lot of uniqueness in detail of the layout that allows for gameplay that is not repetitive and each round to be potentially very different. Each bombsite is set in an interior; meaning that, in theory, smokes, flashes, grenades and molotovs are limited a lot more than on most maps with open environment. However, given that Ts have only one direct route to each site, smokes, grenades, flashes and molotovs will be of extreme importance in taking over site. Each spawn and middle are connected by 2 windows which serve as sniper spots; one on T side, one on CT side. Each site has one entrance from middle, one from T side, one from CT side. The map itself is set in night time, which is quite a rarity among competitive/classic CSGO maps. It makes up for quite a unique experience, but it is also a hassle to work with. This map proudly uses 0 regular, mostly unrealistic lights; all of the lights are point lights. This will add the feeling of actually being in night environment where there is not equal distribution of light in all places, and so light and shadow dance as you move. The map was never meant to be an eye-candy and it is using the default textures and default props exclusively.
